I cannot stand him! I'm watching the whole Weeds series and I hate that they chose him to be in it! And no, it's not because I 'don't get him', just think he isn't funny at all. He isn't offbeat at all, he's just awful. No wonder he doesn't cast in anything but Finding Nemo and the Simpsons.

shareYour entire argument is unconvincing. Only a year ago, Albert Brooks was the winner of many critic's choice awards for Drive, for which he was also nominated for a Golden Globe. He was nominated for an Oscar for Broadcast News. His friend Martin Scorsese gave him a good role in Taxi Driver. Stanley Kubrick was a huge admirer of Albert's - and probably would have cast him in a movie had there been a role available for him. When you're arguing against Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick, along with major critical associations, I don't think you have a leg stand on.

What rant? He's using solid arguments. If anybody is ranting, it's you. Complaining because you don't like an actor. Like anybody cares what you like and don't like. If you take 100 random people, not 2 of them will have the same taste in anything from music to movies. Information about what you dislike has no value for anybody anywhere.
shareI don't think he is funny at all and frankly didn't really like him UNTIL ---Drive.. I think he missed his calling. He was as scary and coming from a comic makes it 100 times worse.
shareAww, come on. You know that this one anonymous person's well thought out and expertly written opinion about an actor has value. Every time I read the obligatory "I can't stand him/her/this film or television show" thread on every single board here, it makes me reevaluate what I thought liked.
Due to this thread, I have thrown out my copy of Out of Sight and The Simpsons Movie. I also threw out the discs containing the Simpsons episodes which Brooks appeared in. Sure, my Simpsons sets are now incomplete but that doesn't matter. Someone else doesn't like Albert Brooks so none of should!
I think he's friggen hilarious....used to not be such a fan, but the older I got...the more I watched his stuff. Just watched Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World....and laughed my ass off. The improvisational scene was genius. Loved it.
