Dave Robicheaux. The Cajun cop from the James Lee Burke novels. Yes they'd need to do some character background tinkering, or set it as a historical (early 1990s) mystery but when I read these books I picture TLJ (who starred as Robicheaux in a DVD movie version of 'in the electric mist (with the confederate dead) or Brolin who's now about the age of the character. If they turned it into a series it'd be better than Bosch
