KAA??!!

Kate is playing Kaa in a different Jungle Book film. It's supposed to be released in 2018.

Don't really know why it's necessary to make 2 Jungle Book films.

The Jungle Book movie that Cate is featured in was originally going to be called Jungle Book: Origins and was due to be released next year, but the release date has now been put back to 2018 and the name has been changed to just 'Jungle Book'. It was actually announced a year before the new Disney live action version, but is taking a lot longer to complete because Andy Serkis (the director) is using the more time consuming motion capture method for the animal characters (including Kaa, Cate's character) rather than CGI, as used in the Disney version. It's also going to be darker in tone as it is sticking a lot closer to Rudyard Kipling's original novel, whereas the new Disney film is basically a live action version of the old animated film which is a lot more light-hearted.

It seems to be just a weird coincidence that the directors/producers of both films have decided to make Kaa into a female character.

The Jungle Book is a series of short stories. The stories with Mogli, Baloo, Kaa and Shere Khan cover the first six stories of the book.

The White Seal and Rikki-tikki-tavi are included too of course.

I hate the wait, but I understand why. The current version in theaters is doing very well.
