I just saw this movie and I couldn't believe how stunning they made the evil stepmother. The evil stepmother isn't supposed to be that beautiful. Cate visually blew everyone away and really stole every scene she was in. It was almost ridiculous. Poor Lily James, Cate took her thunder.

Yeah, Cate made the stepmother miles more interesting and dynamic than Cinderella, but I knew that was a given the minute that she was cast in that role. I can't help thinking that Disney should have perhaps gone down the Maleficent route and focused the film on the stepmother and her back story rather than Cinderella, that would have been a much more interesting movie IMO.
And yeah, she is absolutely stunning. I've always thought that Cate looks absolutely dynamite with red hair.
I agree with you. To cast Cate in a movie like Cinderella just screams for a new plot focus. Cate's performance actually made me interested in the stepmother's backstory. I never cared about it before.
And you're also right about the red hair, I think the color suits her best.
