I've finally seen "Knight of Cups" and...

... what a silly empty film!!!, like a long perfume commercial. I get that Malick's intention was to convey a silly and empty life from Bale's character, but it's still a silly empty film!!

Not even Cate Blanchett can save the film for me. It was so bad. Seriously, Blanchett should look for real roles with complexity and consistency, roles that don't waste her talent. I know some actors are fond of Mallick, but working with him is going to do nothing for her career or for art per se.

And Christian Bale... another wasted talent on that film. His enjoyable, dark and complex Bruce Wayne is like Brando's Corleone compared to this role in "Knight of Cups".

Now I understand why this film barely gets distribution from companies.

Yeah, I sadly have to agree. I love Cate to bits and will watch anything that she does but Knight of Cups was honestly a chore to sit through. It's just boring and pretentious, I'm not a fan of Mallick in the slightest. His films have some great visuals but pretty much have nothing else going for them IMO, it's why I'm not really that hyped about Weightless either. I hope Voyage of Time is the last project Cate does with him.
