she just plays roles doesn't she? in the l word she makes many references to being biracial although shouldnt we just see her for the character she plays rather than saying she is playing any 'end' of her race. He race is human isnt it ?

I doubt she has a lot of choice. She's famous but probably not famous enough to pick and choose from a huge list of roles.

Only the shell, the perishable passes away. The spirit is without end. Eternal. Deathless.

The Razzatron and Sara73, I understand both of ya'll. On the one hand, it seems in most of her films where race is concerned, she plays more of the "white half". For ex: on the L Word, although Tina had Angelica to have a baby who could represent Tina and Bette, Bette does not have any access to the "black world" or black culture except for her half sister Kit. Bette doesn't have any black friends, never listens to black music, never dances with rhythm, and has never dated a black woman in the history of the L Word. On the other hand, her race is the human race just like all of us (Sara73's point).

She would never be cast as an African-American without there being outrage over pandering to the "paper bag" rule.

Yet you claim she shouldn't play "white" because it's ignoring her African-American half.

So, there are no roles for her, except maybe as an alien monster or a vampire.

Are you hiding behind a fake argument--are you really a critic and you just plain ole don't want her acting at all?

In the L Word Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals) dated Candace Jewel, who was black, and caused the breakup of Bette and Tina. (A major storyline)
