THE ISLAND is so goddamn good! One of Bay's best.

Rewatched the flick today and was blown away. I forgot how good that movie was. And no, I'm not talking popcorn-in-your-hand-leave-your-brain-on-the-floor-good. This is a genuinely GOOD, SOLID, well-made film that deserved a wayyy better box office run. A film that also raises some very important questions about us, humans. One of Mike Bay's best movies, hands down.

If it was released today, THE ISLAND would've been a huge, huge hit. For one, ScarJo is now a big international action star and Bay is certainly bigger than ever with them TF movies.

Angry much?

Good. I love it when people like you are angry. And just to piss you off even more, let me tell you this: Bay is now the SECOND highest-grossing director in history, only behind Spielberg. Which means you will see sooooooooo many more movies from him.

He's so powerful and successful that he can do any movie he wants at this point.

I've always thought The Island was underrated and very good. I'd say it's my 5th or 6th favorite Bay movie.

It is underrated. Or at least 'WAS'. Nowadays a lot of peeps seem to really dig the movie. Look how many people have voted for it here, over 260,000. That's a lot for a movie that was quite underrated when it came out. It means that it gained some following throughout the years.

Anyway, 'Slate' was spot on when they described the initial failure of the movie:

'What really failed here was not the directing, acting, or story (which were all acceptable for a summer movie), but the marketing campaign.'

The marketing team really did a piss-poor job with this movie. It certainly wasn't the movie's fault for the weak box office.
