Serious question: why 95% of the Bay haters are complete idiots?

During my years as an IMDb member, 10 whole years now, I've encountered only like five or six so-called Bay haters who are actually respectful and were able to explain in a completely normal, civilized way why they dislike his work.

And it was great to have a NORMAL discussion with those people. Outside of that however is a completely different story. Literally every other Bay hater is either a troll who knows next to nothing about Bay or a person who's so ignorant, stupid and blined by hatred that he's unable to see straight, let alone have an actual discussion. Their comments about Bay are so weak, so idiotic, so predictable, the double standard is so obvious, that you can't help but laugh. It's quite funny and ironic when exactly those people - people so stupid and limited in their knowledge about the film business - complain that Bay makes 'dumb, stupid movies'.

So you have clearly dumb people (like this recent tool: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur63432366) complaining that a director, according to them, makes dumb movies. Yeah, that makes sense.

They all basically go like this: 'Bay sucks, he's da Devil and if you like him you're a moron with no taste. You don't know what good cinema is. All hail Nolan!!!'

And when you, as a Bay fan, reply back with FACTS, quotes from other filmmakers, with well-rounded, balanced arguments, they hit back with 'Whatever fanboy, Bay still sucks. LOL!'

What's even more interesting is that most of the Bay fans I've encountered here are actually quite knowledgeable about cinema and they're certainly not stupid.

So there you go. The Bay haters remain dumb as bags of rocks, while the Bay fans still try to act reasonable and respectful even when they're facing yet another moron.

Gotta love IMDb!

This might not answer the question the OP was asking, but the fact that he asked this question makes me want to ask this question to other people on this board:

If person A wrote a blatant insult like "YOU IDIOT!" for simply disagreeing with person B on the works and/or practices of a filmmaker, why would person B use blatant insults to retaliate against people who directly insult person B for simply liking or disliking movies that the filmmaker has produced and/or directed since 2 wrongs don't make a right?

P.S. Why are there people who rely on logic to convince them if a movie is good or not? It just sounds retarded to me.

While we're on the subject of Michael Bay hater trolls, did you ever try to have any discussions/debates with DarkPouncer (http://www.imdb.com/user/ur20943148/) when he used to troll this board? Most of his posts have been deleted now, but MAN were they cringeworthy!

Of course. I was actually the reason he stopped posting on this very board for months. When he was trolling hard I decided to expose him outside of his threads. So I started making entire threads only about him with big letters and links to his most insane comments. He didn't reply to those threads of course, I kept making them and very quickly he simply stopped posting. He, of course, returned when I left IMDb for a while.

So if he comes back again and starts trolling hard, just expose his comments by making threads about him. Make sure that all people can see what he really is. And you can be 100% sure that he will go away.

I think he's a good director, I love The Rock, Armageddon, The Island and I like the Transformer movies as those were my favorite thing growing up. I just don't like some of the changes me made to the story line. I don't hate him, I hate the decision to do a few things. Because of that I want to see Transformers rebooted one day and done right. The Transformers franchise is the only franchise I want to see done exactly like G1, I understand some changes have to be made but you could still keep it true to the source material without making such huge changes like he did. It's really not a big deal but when you have one thing growing up that you look forward to seeing done right on the big screen one day you keep this small hope alive that it will happen one day. Maybe it still will. I think Michael Bay is the best at directing all new / original stories. I'd love to see him do more of that.

This guy is what's wrong with the movie industry today. His experience prior to film is in the music video business, that should speak volumes. His films are for the infantile of mind, cartoons, ridiculous gore and nonsense.

That is not true classic film making.

And it's *beep*heads like you who the OP is talking about, I take it you haven't taken any time to read the above post? Plus, your kind who's actions are also responsible for the IMDb message boards getting shut down, I hope you're happy!

Sorry you feel that way, I enjoy quality films like "The Grapes of Wrath" and "To Kill a Mockingbird" I wish more films like that were made today. The silly action and CGI films
and superhero nonsense have taken over.

I guess the "American" public will get what they want and as long as they support the film makers like Bay we will never see anymore quality films designed for the intelligent people.

reply

There are quality movies still being made, but they will mostly be independent films and not blockbusters. Simple fact is, the vast majority of people are average to below average intelligence, so their wants will always dictate the direction of things like this because of monetary aspect of it.

I do have to disagree with Sister Suzy. The people responsible for the loss of the IMDb board weren't all the clowns making insults and stupid comments, it was the people who got offended and kept reporting people to the moderators. If no one is complaining, then there is no problem to the IMDb powers no matter how many stupid or insulting posts are made. I personally don't get upset by some anonymous person on the internet disparaging me or something I enjoy. The only power people like that have, is the power you give them.

Thanks Moonglum9, I do research Indy films, I've seen a few in recent years that I have enjoyed. However I do miss the days when a film like "Ghandi" can rule the box office and the Oscars and still be a quality epic film. This years nominees looked good, I thought that "Darkest Hour" and "Dunkirk" should've been epics, I have yet to see them but will try to.
