Loosely based on Babe Ruth. There are similarities.

The personality of the character was different from Babe Ruth. Deliberately written that way.

Joe Don was good in this supporting role.

He was good as Steve McQueen's brother in Junior Bonner.

Honestly I haven't seen him in anything that I thought he was even remotely tolerable in (Mars Attacks, Congo, James Bond, etc.)
