Okay-THIS is Messed UP! It has been revealed that She DID Die of AIDS.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

1) HAART (combo therapy) has been available for over Twenty years and Dramatically Decreased the Death Rate. I'm Sure she could have afforded the medications.

2) The Incubation period from HIV infection to Full Blown AIDS Varies but is usually about 5-8 years. We have Known about the Risk
Factors for AIDS since 1981(!) and the information was widely Disseminated by 1983. The HIV Test has been available since 1985.

So-why wasn't She-or He up until several years ago-more Careful about partners and condoms???

reply

Because society and the media try to make it seem like HIV/AIDS is not that big a deal. Also they try to downplay responsibility of the person who gets it.

We have this held over thing that people who have HIV/AIDS are to be seen as victims and that it should not matter how they got it. It was done in an attempt to quell the vicious anti-gay and anti-HIV hysteria that happened in the 80's.

I worked with an organization regarding HIV/AIDS prevention and I have gotten to the point that anyone in this day and age who is not safe when it comes to sex does not deserve the same sympathy when they get it compared to children who get it and the wives of closeted homosexuals get.

Charlie Sheen was/is a whore monger who basically was asking nature to give him HIV and now look at him.

Alexis Arquette before she realized she was a woman was a gay man living through the 80's and 90's at the peak of the AIDS crisis. She was part of a group (gay and transgender) where the ratio for infection is high and was not careful.

HIV/AIDS is not a punishment from God or whatever some people think. It is however like with smoking cigarettes and getting lung cancer is a part of a lifestyle when you choose not to be safe with your health.

Yeah-she must have done at least some Anal. I don't know how susceptible the "Vagina" of a Post-OP Transexual is to HIV.

I don't mean this to lull people into a false sense of security or anything, but really the complete picture amending that statement is, cancer or HIV infection MAY happen to those who smoke or have unsafe sex.

For whatever treason(s), there ARE people who do not protect themselves from HIV or cancer (via smoking) and do not get infected.

It's a Russian roulette...

reply

True but the ones who get the diseases through their own cavalierness its hard to not feel angry and annoyed.

actually since a far greater number of americans die from lung cancer, why do we not see the same vitriol for their choice? or is there a board here where we can see your comments about smokers dying?

I give credit where its due; valid point. Both lung cancer and HIV/GRID (in most..not all cases) are caused by voluntary decisions made to pursue certain actions which ultimately led to their diseases/conditions. I would surmise its perhaps because smoking is viewed as a vice...but not "wrong". In comparison, most people view homosexual activity as wrong so they are not viewed in the same light.

lol. nice rationale. people are naturally inclined towards their sexuality, whatever it may be. nobody is naturally inclined to smoke. nothing but random personal prejudice at work.

Whether there are inclinations or not is immaterial. What is material is the perception. As most people view homosexuality as "wrong", they will obviously hold to the negatives to a different regard when compared to acts they deem to be of no moral consequence.
