He lied and told her he was 18

Quit giving her shit

reply

Doesn't matter.

If a man sleeps with a girl who's 15 - but told him she was 18 - he's still guilty of Statutory Rape, goes to jail, and ends up married to the guy with the most cigarettes...

She doesn't get a pass on that account.

What if they meet in a bar and someone has a fake id

reply

It makes no difference. You bang someone underage, you're guilty. Period.

..Joe

reply

No. If they lie they are committing fraud

reply

They're MINORS. Besides, it's not fraud, it's lying. Fraud only occurs when there's something to gain.

Seriously- look up the laws. the adult is ALWAYS responsible for assuring the age. Sucks, but there it is.

reply

So if she said show me your ID and he produced a fake one, it’s still her fault. ?

reply

Yup. The adult is ALWAYS culpable, regardless of the circumstances.

Remember, that's in the eyes of the law. The circumstances can be whatever they are, but I'm speaking strictly about black-letter law.

Best case? Ask to see her passport. Can't be faked, (for less than thousands of dollars) and guarantees honesty. Better to go home frustrated, than spend the night trying to make bail.

Overboard, but better than ending up someone's bitch in the slammer.

Not to mention nothing sets the mood quite like asking for two forms of ID...

reply

Hell, during the AIDS outbreak, you had to boil people before you could sleep with them. That was a REAL buzzkill.

..Joe

reply

But if you meet someone at a bar, and the id is fake but they get in the bar and drink and you take them home is it your fault or the bars fault

reply

Both: them for serving liquor to a minor, you for banging her.

..Joe

reply

Nope if you meet someone in an adult establishment and they are in there drinking it’s ok to assume it’s ok as long as there is consent

reply

See, assumptions will get you in trouble every time.

The law does NOT allow for "assumptions."

..Joe

reply

She’s not been convicted of any crime

reply

I would tend to agree with Bucky on this. I mean they could certainly bring charges but any decent lawyer would be able to get you acquitted.

reply

I thought her story was that the didn't have sex? The payment was to get him to leave her and Bourdain alone.

reply

Because you usually pay stalkers $400k, rather than calling the cops....come on.

reply

She knew him at 7. She can do math. Bullshit.

BELIEVE THE VICTIM.

reply

If she didn't know his exact birthday then she wouldn't know the difference between 17 and 18.

It's funny how if he was 18, this wouldn't be an issue. He could have been two days from this 18th birthday and yet delusional people will believe, because they have to, that someone switches from "sexually immature child" to "ready for all the sex" in one day when they turn 18.

reply

I thought she was like a "mother" to him. Should've known his birthday.

reply

Seven. Years. Old. Not only are you defending child grooming, and statutory rape, you are showing a clear double standard when the victim is male vs female.

You're a disgusting human being.

reply

I've seen you trolling and have no interest in your fake opinion.

reply

Well said.

People who seriously believe she did not know he was 17 are extremely gullible. 10 year prior of them having sex, when he was 7, she directed him in a movie, she also always kept in touch with him. So unless she does not know basic Math she knew he was not 18. People who are defending a 37 year old woman having sex with 17 year old boys are just fascinating to me. Call me old fashion but I believe she probably should have ask him to take a cold shower and direct him to girls his own age instead of having sex with him and posing for a selfie afterward. She had 20 more years of experience in life than him, no matter what you guys say she was the adult and what was suppose to be the voice of reason in this situation.
