Just read an article from the the always thoughtful Mr Abdul-Jabbar, disclosing his feeling on how African-American athletes are expected to perform for us White Americans, be grateful for the largess and keep their mouths shut when it comes to racial inequality.
Black men CAN kneel during the national anthem and love the country at the same time. All men can and should.
Mr A-J turned down a 1980 invitation to play for USA in the Olympics, instead choosing to mentor inner-city kids about basketball. For this he received hate mail.
He adopted the stance of Muhammad Ali, which was to be the best athlete possible in order to give voice to the unheard. Gotta love K A-J.
