Yeah, Debra should have at least one Oscar on her mantlepiece by now.

Maybe, but not in 83... that was the year of Meryl Streep in "Sophie's Choice". One of the best performances EVER! NO ONE could have beaten Meryl that year.

I'm over Meryl, frankly. Debra Winger is much fresher and more appealing to me.

Yes, i agree debra is "more fresh". But still... meryl deserved it in 83.

I think Jessica Lange could have beaten Meryl for Frances.

I agree with Avario, Jessica Lange nailed with the role of Frances Farmer, Jessica was robbed that year but she received the supporting oscar for Tootsie. I think Debra was robbed the year after because her role was stronger that Shirley Mc Claine. But because she was older and was waiting for the oscar since 1956, she won. The same case happened in 1989 Michelle Pfeiffer was robbed she deserved the oscar for The Fabulous Baker Boys and the Oscar went to Jessica Tandy for Driving Miss Daisy.
