An Officer and A Gentleman was sooo corny, I just laughed my way thru it. The part where Paula's supposed to be crying sounded rather faked and forced; all she got out was snorts and little false gasps, but not real tears or emotion. It was funny and rather lame the way Mayo comes into the factory showing himself off in uniform, loving having the woman gawk at him and carries Paula out of the factory and Paula wearing this smug, stupid look (oh, my he "rescued" me from the factory, gigii, snicka). I bet Debra enjoyed that part.

You must remember when this movie was made, 1981/82. For that time this was a very moving picture and still is for some. It is probably to much to most of todays audiences.

I loved the movie when I saw it for the first time in the 80s (I was around 20 then) and I still love it now, particularly the scene where Mayo goes for her while she's working at the factory. It was so romantic and he was so, so handsome...
