Crow Remake

What are your thoughts on the Crow remake underway at Relativity?

For what it's worth, my view is that the 1994 cast carried the film well and that Lee's work and death lent it cult status and ennui. Hands down, Wincott's performance was (imho) untouchable.

It's my opinion that it's an affront to be remaking so soon; when there is so much other material out there. What do you among Michael's fans think of it?

Do you think that it would be neat for him to reprise or continue and expand that role (if it's even under consideration) or would you prefer to see him in different roles?

Personally, I am rather tired of Hollywood remaking good movies just to make a few more bucks off a well-known name. The Crow should be left alone.

As for Mr. Wincott, I doubt he would even consider reprising the role as he seems to hold the art over the money when it comes to the roles he choses these days (which why he is my favorite actor.) And, while it's great to see him play villains (as he does it incredibly well), I would love to see him play something outside what we have already seen. I'd be overjoyed to see him in another funny role (not that slapstick crap, mind you) but something that shows his lighter side. Why just thinking about his scenes in Dead Man just makes me smile.

Geez louise, there are already a couple of "remakes" or sequels to "The Crow" -- none derived (obviously) from the fine original graphic novel, which had a definite END so sequels make little sense anyways.

There was also a TV series, cheaply done, and with a strange, short haired actor reprising the Top Dollar role (very unlike MW).

Honestly, nothing could be as out of gas as this "franchise". I love and revere the original film, but it needs remaking about as much as "Gone With The Wind", which is to say, not at all.

Given the poor sequels and TV series, I can't believe Michael Wincott would remotely consider "reprising" his role at all. It was one of those singular and perfect things. Enjoy it. Leave it alone.

I also feel even the idea of redoing "The Crow" is very disrespectful to the late Brandon Lee and his family.

Even though I do agree they need to stop remaking old, good films - and this film is definitely one of them - I am actually kind of intrigued tbh .

They will be following the comics this time - now I don't know anything about the comics or if the original film followed the comic that well - and I am just curious in general to see how different it will be.

As far as Mr. Wincott reprising a role in the new film, I seriously doubt he would. And imo, even if he had been asked, I could see him having a very hard time doing such a thing. I truly believe the cast and crew were deeply devastated by the death of Mr. Lee and still are.

I guess I'm trying to keep an open mind about the whole thing for the moment because like I said I don't know anything about the comic and how well the original film followed it. There are no promo pics or trailers out yet either.

For now I'm looking at this as a completely different movie.

Top Dollar and T-birds roles are switched in the film. In the comic Top Dollar is one of the lesser thugs and T-Bird is the leader of the group. I could be wrong but I think Top Dollar is only in the original comic for 5 or 10 pages.
