Can you explain yourself a little better. "He's famous for being in things to do with things..." What the heck does that mean?

reply

He did "Stand By Me"

That was a great film...

still, he is famous for being famous, is how every supposed star gains their fame

Like strawberries and cream
It's the only way to be =P

He's got geek cred. He's been posting on Slashdot for a while. He's enthusiastic about D&D and role-playing games. Then he upped his geek cred with roles on The Guild and The Big Bang Theory.

It helped that he was a regular on Star Trek: TNG. He shared his experiences on that show with fans and that improved his likability as an actor if not the Wesley Crusher character.

He shared his experiences on that show Correction. He blathered on about fictionalized stories based on almost no truth at all.

Wil Wheaton is sort of like Kevin Smith.

Both started off with promising careers around the 90s. From there they sputtered out and have largely existed as "personalities" moreso than actually creating anything of real consequence.

If Wil had done a few more big movies I could see why he could enjoy the status he does now, but coasting off of Stand By Me and Star Trek: TNG for 20 years is sort of pathetic.

He is known for being a massive cuck too.

So there's that going for him I suppose.
