What's up with all the Wil bashing?

I was running through the "Has Anyone met him" thread on here (I met him recently myself at Super-Con in San Jose) and I was a bit shocked at some of the posts of people knocking him from back in his TNG days. So what if he was possibly a prick when he was a teenager? EVERYBODY goes through that phase at some point or another (crap, I sure know I did). When I met him recently, he seemed pretty down to earth & both friendly and out-going towards his fans. Read his blog a bit and you'll realize that he's one of the coolest folks around in the geek scene.

Crap, if I see him again and the opportunity comes up, I'll probably buy him a beer or two.

I think people hate Wesley, not Wil. I really enjoy both though.

Your right.

Wil Wheaton is a cool guy. All teenage boys are scum and filth, but now he is an adult he has his head screwed on and is a good bloke.

I think a lot of people have difficulty separating the two in their mind.

Personally I really disliked Wesley (always felt he was a bit of a Mary Sue) but, from what I've read in his blog and books, Wil seems like a good bloke.

Well, his appearance on the Star Trek edition of The Weakest Link was well after his teen years, and his behavior toward Roxann Dawson was inexcusable (a fact which she made certain all were aware of).

But I do like his character on The Guild.

Rubbish! They were just kidding each other.

But since there are too many fools like you, she even had to write on her website afterwards that IT WAS JUST FOR FUN.

I guess level 1 cognitives like you think she was being forced to write that

I found out about the Star Wars special from this thread and just saw it on youbube.. and as you say they were clearly just having a laugh. Holding that against Wil is just silly.

Maybe your teenaged boys are scum and filth, maybe you were, but not all were. My boys weren't and I wasn't.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.
