Hope it isn't in any way too insulting but I was wondering...

... how does Paul Verhoeven feel being 79 years old today (and is he quite healthy for his age, taking his enormous wealth into the account too from being a filmmaker for over 40 years), does he know how to use a smartphone of this day and age and does he have an expensive one like an iphone and can he use Google Play to download apps and watch movies for that matter and whatnot?

Does he own and still drive a car? Is he in a condition to constantly fly on an aeroplane and does his health allow it? Does he own a laptop or even a desktop computer and does he use it often and well, does he know how to install an anti-virus software?

Does he feel OK being 79 years old and can he live for at least 10 more years (then again, Kirk Douglas lived up to 100, whoopee), even if he does retire from filmmaking?

Does he own a plasma screen TV and does he use wi-fi and modern day DVD players and does he own quite a large number of films on DVD himself?

Do you know? Thanks.

Weirdest thread I’ve read in a while.

As of last year, after seeing his "Elle" in the cinema, and seeing loads of modern technology in that film, I couldn't help but wonder it.

I also saw one of his on-stage interviews, he really there spoke about his future plans and did not even say ONE word about his age being a factor that may, say, influence on his decisions to work and move in France.

And by the way yeah, Paul Verhoeven does seem to be in shape and able to communicate well today, I am pretty sure he will live for another 10 years and maybe in 5 years time, they will invent medicine to allow more senior citizens to live up to 100.

I'm somewhat sure he at least has a smartphone and he knows how to use it, maybe it is an iphone and maybe he does indeed know all about those Google Play apps, I'm sure he's had a lot of practice.

Although he already lived and worked for DECADES at times when a mobile phone was never even heard of, and survived well, then again, he was still alive when WW2 was going on and saw various Nazi attacks on Holland so I'm sure he could've survived all those years say walking in a field without a mobile phone and have nobody attack him.

A plasma screen tv? Can you still buy them?

reply

So what do you call modern day TVs as such?

reply

I haven't heard anyone talk about plasma televisions for years and thought they had been supplanted by LEDs. People here just call them televisions or TV's.

reply

If you can direct a digital film you are using computers. Smart phones are much simpler.
If you have a degree in math/physics you can not only use computers, you can design and program them.

reply

Verhoeven has a degree in mathematics and apparently, he once even wanted to become a mathematician himself.

Paul's down with the dope dude. Me and him Facetime every day and he's whack in Overwatch. He used to use Plasmas but now he uses an OLED mesh in a bubble room where he sits and bongs it up whilst streaming to Twitch.

Dude's part reptilian now and so age is of no concern to him and he's still the crack-shot wingman he once was in his youth. Guy's a veritable Casanova who respects the bro code.

I'll send your regards along to him as he always loves hearing from his fans 🙃

Very cool, I'm on Facebook by the way, is he there too?

reply

Nah he doesn't like Facebook, he thinks it isn't worth the effort and just uses a Diaspora framework for people he knows with GitHub for any patches he's working on for radio stacks and modifications.

He's helping build an alternative to Twitter called Gab.ai and he's tweaking that when he's not being the MVP with his Tracer.

Busy man, I freaking love that guy!

Yes to most of your questions... except in addition to his wide screen TV, he has a projector/screening room to watch movies and uses blu rays as well as DVDs and streaming...

No one knows how long he'll live for, but he's clearly an underrated filmmaker... I hope he get's the chance to make an American movie again soon...

reply

I for one am looking forward to his new "Blessed Virgin" film soon. And its also, like "Elle", French.
