Anybody surprised Kathleen was only like 30 at her peak circa 1984?

Kathleen was born 1954 and had her big streak of movies in the mid-late 80s and early 90s, still a pretty young woman (say aged 29-37). She was sultry and beautiful in that "hot soccer mom"/cougar kinda way, but its a trip to learn she was like the age I am now (31) back then, yet I'd still think of her as this somewhat older woman...maybe because she came across with a really mature sexuality.

I watched Man With Two Brains (1983) as a kid since I was a Steve Martin fan and she was only 29 in that (probably 28 when it was filmed) but seems like a really gorgeous middle aged woman, if that makes any sense.

I know what you mean. Your feeling is because the 80's are the new 50's nowadays. People mature earlier in looks and attitude back then, that's why the specialists keep saying that the 30's are the new 20's and the 40's the new 30's. As an example, i'm 37 years old, last night i re-watched "Wall Street", Michael Douglas was only 39 when he played Gordon Gekko (2 years older than me) but i relate more to the Charlie Sheen character who was only 21 than Gekko who almost looks like my father... Probably i'm not making sense, but is the way the things are nowadays, i look at least 10 years younger if i'm comparing me with the age of the actors doing movies in the 80's.

Oh I definitely understand where you're coming from dude. We're only 5 years apart so our perspectives are similar. Its a trip to see a movie or TV show from your childhood or teens and realize you're the same age (or sometimes even older) than some adult characters....and yet you still kinda view them as "older people".

I feel myself doing the same thing since I tend to feel quite a bit more youthful than "typically 32". Like when I watch Full House episodes now and realize Danny was only early 30s in the first few seasons but acted so middle aged out of touch, lol. I wonder if more people just age slower or hang onto their youth longer in more recent times?

Speaking of Kathleen I can't believe I forgot to add Serial Mom from 1994!! And I saw that with my dad in the theatre as a kid too.
