Understand that Jackie Chan deserves his lifetime achievement award for the amount of work he has done in both the U.S. and Hong Kong cinema. To say he was a big a star in the east as Harrison Ford was in the west is an understatement.

It wasn't that he was just massively successful, he pushed the boundaries of stunt work which is still the bar that is set today. Just have a look at Project A, Police Story, Armour of God - in fact almost any movie he did in the 80's and early 90's, the stunts he and his team pulled off are still amazing. He was not the only one in HK who was doing amazing stunt work, but he was the most successful. He then (after a few attempts) successfully crossed over to U.S. mainstream cinema. A very tough task. And he continued to do great stunt work, despite his advancing years, he was still better than any western action star at pure stunts.

He merged stunt work, martial arts, comedy inside great action movies - in which he directed and/or took control of scenes in order for them to work properly, for at least two decades. And his movies were consistently very successful.

He is a cinematic legend.

He is certainly more deserving than John Travolta.
