I sympathize with your wish to see the further exploits of Karl and his friends, but there was a sense of finality with Karl, from the time he began wrestling with his inner demons, to carrying out his execution of Doyle, and ultimately back to the insane asylum.

There's really nothing more to tell here. Karl will live out his days at the asylum, enduring the guilt he bears for Doyle's blood.

at first I said, that's terribly depressing. then I found out after reading the title of the post that you are just hoping for a sequel. you cant' make a sequel for movies like Sling Blade because it's so original and unique, just like Trainspotting, though they are now stupidly working on one now.
