So I wonder when Emma starts criticizing Julie Andrews?

For MFL the studio wanted a named bankable star and in came Hepburn over Andrews who should have had the part and shined in the role on Broadway. Thankfully while I adore Hepburn, the whole package(not just for her acting), Andrews winning for Mary Poppins was just due and she deserved it. But I am now waiting for Emma to start slamming Julie in the media to prop her lame MFL remake.

In the end, why a remake of MFL why not just an adaptation of Pygmallion which is what MFL was anyway.

She's already launching pre-emptive strikes because she knows the critics are going to compare the two movies, and she knows remakes are NEVER able to compete with the original classics. I was indifferent towards Emma Thompson before this, thought she was a fine character actress who I'd never watch in the lead role for fear of being bored to death but was convincing in supporting roles, but after this and her support for Polanski, she's one more example of why there is no such thing as a sane actress working today. Ironically, the most sane actress in history that comes to mind is a girl named Audrey Hepburn.

Julie Andrews was great as Mary Poppins, but frankly, I thought that Audrey gave the best performance of the year in My Fair Lady. Her failure to get an Oscar nomination smacks of spite and pettiness on the part of Hollywood and Julie Andrews extremists.

Anyway, I get the feeling that Emma wouldn't hate on Julie. She's appearing as P.L. Travers in Saving Mr. Banks-a film about how Disney got P.L. Travers to sell him the rights to her Mary Poppins books. Travers hated Disney's finished film, but she did approve of Andrews' casting.

Thompson wouldn`t critize Andrews because she likes true talent.

Dorothy stop that, Mr. Ha Ha`s lookin at you!!

Careful. Are you implying Audrey Hepburn doesn't have true talent? She's gotten more Oscar nominations than Julie Andrews has, and some would say that she's achieved things that Julie hasn't. Where, for example, has Julie given a dramatic performance equal to Audrey's in The Nun's Story?

And as for "twee," what about Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music? That's much
"tweer" than Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady.

I suppose when Andrews passes away then she will say stuff like: Andrews couldn't sing, act, deliver lines, etc.
She won't dare when someone is still alive and can speak for thrmselves.

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down and a Wagging Finger of Shame

Wonder whatever happened to that projected My Fair Lady project. Don't recall hearing of it. Never happened I guess?
