We can listen to uneducated moron Meryl Streep...

...or we can listen to someone who actually lived under Hitler in Nazi Germany.

“What is going on in this country is giving me chills. Trump is not like Hitler. Just because a leader wants order doesn’t mean they’re like a dictator.

What reminds me more of Hitler than anything else isn’t Trump, it’s the destruction of freedom of speech on the college campuses — the agendas fueled by the professors.

That’s how Hitler started, he pulled in the youth to miseducate them, to brainwash them, it’s happening today.”

“It saddens me that we are teaching garbage in the schools and in the college. We don’t teach history anymore. History repeats itself over and over.

“America needs to grow up. The young people who are rioting and destroying property, who have no respect for elders and freedom of speech, I was so proud to become a citizen of this country.”

“Professors shouldn’t be telling their students to go after freedom of speech. They should be telling them that this is the greatest country in the world.

The demonstrators can’t tell you why they’re demonstrating. I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Democrat. I just want the country to be at peace.

I see what is happening here reflecting some of the things we saw in Germany, and it’s terrifying. It’s sad. But it’s not because of Trump. It’s because of poor education.

Trump is not like Hitler. The theory that he is is propaganda. Yes, I lived through some of Nazi Germany, but all you have to do is read some books about that period to see how wrong that theory is.”

A better comparison would be Trump, who doesn't like to be checked by the checks and balances. And if you don't agree with him, you're fired.

So far I don't know of any who was fired or ended up in a death camp for disagreeing with Meryl Streep.

So far, Trump has fired as an employer but has not sent anyone to a death camp. Just what is your point?

"Actually lived under Hitler in nazi Germany?" She was born in 1940, she was barely 5 when the war ended. While technically, yes, she did live under Hitler's regime in nazi Germany, she would not have been aware of it at the time, as she was way too young to observe anything. And she wasn't even born when Hitler got started. She is not an authority of any kind.

She says Hitler started by pulling in the youth to miseducate them, to brainwash them. That did not happen until he was well established as chancellor, in 1933. The way Hitler actually started was quite different: He preyed on people's hopes and fears. Communists were the great enemy, but Jews were the scapegoats he could conveniently blame, because anti-semitism was rife all over Europe. Pretty much like anti-Islamism today (the arguments against Muslims are eerily similar to arguments against Jews in the first half of the 20th century).

And universities aren't trying to shut down freedom of speech. Which university has this woman attended? Or is she merely going by here-say?

Streep is an idiot.
I'm not sure who the bigger idiot is, the woman who thinks she has some kind of authority because she was born in 1940, or the guy who buys it and posts it here without thinking.

It's not my point, I'm not the one who started comparing people to nazis here. But Trump is closer to Hitler than Streep is, just by being president.

Just because you don't remember things from when you were 5 and/or have no way of looking back and having insight to huge, historical things doesn't mean everyone else doesn't.

He preyed on people's hopes and fears.

Exactly what Hillary and the left do. This past weekend with all of the ICE raids against illegals who are criminals the left wing media ran with head-lines of, "Fear grips immigrant communities" and such.

And we keep hearing about how President Trump is going to lead us into war - the same way we heard how Reagan was going to lead us into WWIII with the Russians.

And universities aren't trying to shut down freedom of speech.

Public schools, ESPECIALLY colleges, should be a place where all, non-violent speech is encouraged. Instead, they have "safe-zones" so liberal snow-flakes can go hide and not have to hear stuff which upsets them. You could go to most any college which isn't known as being a Conservative institution, and you'll find that the majority of Conservative students fear speaking up.

We've seen how much the left love free speech - USC Berkeley.

That isn't preying on someone's fears. That's playing for sympathy. Preying on someone's fears is what Trump does: "Illegal immigrants cause huge amounts of crime", "Muslim extremists are on our doorstep" etc. etc. That's preying on people's fears.

Fortunately, Reagan was much more diplomatic. The problem with Trump isn't that he is provoking Russia - just the opposite, in fact. Trump's brown-nosing with Putin can cause conflict in Europe indirectly, however, if Putin feel sure that American intervention will not be forthcoming if he tries something. Clinton would hardly have been a better option, though, as then we would have a problem with America provoking Russia and perhaps pushing too far. Hillary would have tried for a hardline foreign policy with Putin, but Donald is the opposite extreme.

"They"? I heard of one, and they received plenty of well-earned flak for it.

In any liberal-dominant climate, conservatives are going to be afraid of speaking their minds. Just like in any conservative-dominant climate, liberals are going to be afraid of speaking their minds. That's just human nature: we seek comfort in numbers, and the nail that sticks out will be hammered down. Not saying that's a good thing, just that that's the way it is - whether it is a liberal or conservative dominant environment.
