He might have wanted her, but he obviously did want her anywhere near his fortune. Marshall might have married Anna without a pre-nup, but when he learned this he made his will irrevocable and Anna was never mentioned in that document. Throughout her legal crusade to obtain money from the Marshall, Anna had nothing more to go on than simply saying that her husband promised her half of his estate and that he wanted her to be taken care of. Marshall might have said that, but without proof it's no wonder that a judge and jury didn't buy Anna's claims especially when her credibility as a witness was laughable at best.

Anna did receive a decent chunk of change from her late husband. Before his death, he spent upwards of six million dollars on gifts for her which included a house and car. I don't know how much money he put into her bank account, but I'm willing to bet that Anna used that money the way a thirsty person uses water.
