I think she will still be alive, honesty when her son died she felt she died inside. She felt her life had no value. I understand why she was not be happy. I feel her youngest daughter because she didn't had good time value time together.

I don't know much about her relationship with her son and she was an erratic drug addict so she wouldn't be mother of the year. But something broke in her when Daniel died and she couldn't recover from it...not even a new born could help her.
She probably started medicating even worse after her son died.
