Does he have a gambling problem or something?

Why does he do those tacky reverse mortgage loans TV
ads targeting seniors?

He’s all out of breath and he looks and sounds so desperate.

reply

Easy money, just come in for one day and read a few lines and presto a check for a cool million.

reply

That’s just really sad and so greedy.

I feel it denigrates his TV star icon status.

Same with the guy from Will and Grace. He does ads for ASPCA. I understand they do good work to help animals, but they could do so much more if they didn’t pay their CEO’s millions and they got stars to do ads pro bono.

reply

I feel more sad for Selleck because he turned down the roll of Indiana Jones. Selleck was doing a forgettable sci-fi movie about robot spiders.

reply

Why did he turn down Indiana Jones?

I’m wondering if he was too tall for that role.

Most movie stars are compact in size as it’s easier to fit them in the frame.

reply

Timing conflict I believe, his agent had him signed to that robot spider movie.

reply

This is back in the day for the first Indiana Jones?

reply

I just looked up Harrison Ford’s height and it’s 6’1.

So scratch my previous question.

reply

I was curious also, according to wiki, lthe Magnum PI producers would not release him to do the project.

The spider movie was Runaway (1984)

He missed the window.

reply

That's how remember it from the time. Couldn't get a release - missed out on being Indy (I think he could have been good at that) - eventually did High Road To China (which I like a lot and has a good IMDb rating but didn't do that well).

reply

It’s difficult to imagine anyone but Harrison Ford as Indy... hmmm I’m imagining..,

reply

Yes, it is now and I think Ford gives more edge to the character. But I think Selleck could have carried the role even if the end result was a bit less memorable.

reply

You’re probably right. OTOH, perhaps it would have brought out another side of his talent that went unseen.
