I always think of

Jeff Bridges when I see Kurt Russell. Am I the only one?

reply

Yes, you are.

reply

I always thought Patrick Swayze looked a bit like Kurt Russell.

reply

Not necessarily. I once read that when Kevin Costner's career took off after Dances With Wolves that Costner began getting the parts that had been going to Dennis Quaid, Dennis Quaid began getting the parts that had been going to Jeff Bridges, and Jeff Bridges began getting the parts that had been going to Kurt Russell. I can see where a producer would see them all as similar type.

reply

Haha yeah I can see that.

For the longest time I was convinced Waterworld starred Dennis Quaid.

I am glad to see Kurt Russell getting active and I hope he has more projects and success in the future. At his age, he still has a lot left in him. Spoiler: Kinda bummed that he got killed in both of the movies but both had a good ending. As for Kevin Costner, he has done some good work but a lot of it has not reached what he was doing at the time I referenced and I usually like everything he has done. It looks like he has been getting some advice on picking parts that has not served him as well as possible. Really liked him in Hatfields and McCoys a couple of years ago. Maybe he can do like the late James Garner did in being able to move comfortably between the big screen and TV. I would be interesting for him and Nicolas Cage do something.

When Jeff was about age 20 he looked like Kurt's overfed twin brother

reply

No, you're not. I saw Black Mirror with his son Wyatt Russell, and not knowing who he was thought "He looks like Jeff Bridges in Tron. Acts like that character, too."
