I've read all the Jack Reacher books written by Jim Grant (pen name Lee Child), and I've always pictured Kurt Russell would be perfect for the role in Jack Reacher movies, although he is maybe getting a bit too old now...
Tom Cruise was definitely a bad choice, in my opinion.
Who else could you guys picture as playing Jack Reacher, with the same qualities as Kurt Russell only younger?

shareNot sure about the OP but I didn't like him in the role because Jack Reacher is supposed to be a huge, intimidating man. Tom Cruise is not in any way the Reacher that Lee Child created, I don't think that Kurt Russell would be any better in the role.
shareHe's too short and doesn't even closely resemble Reacher of the novels. I can suspend belief as well as the next person, but Tom Cruise was not a great choice to me, as a fan of the book series.

sharedude, this makes me wish they would have made Jack Reacher eearlyier, because that would be added to his repertoire of bad assery! i liked cruise though and the movie overall, but i get it though with the obvious differences from the book as far as looks go. but the sense of humor was pretty dry, and dudes a badass.
anyways, someone said Armie Hammer and i thought that was an awesome choice, and thats only after knwing he could never get a role as "yonger blah blah" because he was always so tall; and i saw the first 15 of the man from U.n.c.l.e..... which led me too believe he would be THE PICK. others said he was too much of a pretty boy, well so is Tom Cruise, but then again he does have a better resume of being bad ass.
for Hammer though, could have been a career movie. guess hes made it now anyway but i thought they had a good idea with that call. certainly wouldnt beat out a young Kurt though
Cause Jack Reacher is supposed to be 6'5", not 5'5"!!
