Who do you

Find to be the most successful /interesting out of all these all over the place up and down actors.
Mickey Rourke
Burt Reynolds
Val Kilmer
Nick Nolte
Christopher Walken
Sean Penn
John Travolta

reply

Walken ...and it isn't even close.

A far second would be Travolta.

reply

Burt Reynolds, Boogie Nights was one of the best comeback performances ever. Travolta as well for Pulp Fiction.

reply

Travolta actually did some good stuff after Pulp Fiction unlike Reynolds.

reply

you didn't list Michael Madsen or Tom Sizemore

reply

I don’t think either of them have ever been very well known. I think all of those actors I listed are/were very well known even Val Kilmer who played Batman.

reply

Penn has had the most successful career.

reply

a career comprised of mostly yelling really loudly

reply

as opposed to what? whispering?

reply

yes, a whisper is 10x more powerful than yelling all his lines like he's a carnival barker on steroids

reply

I do like all of those actors, but Nolte has always been one of my favourites. He's always great, even in a bad movie.

reply

Yeah, Nolte somehow manages to steal entire movies with just a scene or two. Ever see Warrior? The scene where he's trying to re-connect with his estranged son outside his house standing on the lawn?

Despite heavyweights like Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, this one scene is the one you'll remember when you think of this movie.

He was up here on Vancouver Island about six years ago to film Gracepoint. The scene where he defends himself against accusations of pedophilia were 'holy crap' awesome.

reply

I like them all. Great actors. Mickey Rourke was great in Francesco, Angel Heart, and The Pledge although his role was very short.

reply

Walken
Kilmer can be great when he's in the right part. Doc Holliday in Tombstone, for example.

reply

Mickey Rourke is probably the most interesting....most talented...and most tragic.
