Whatever happened with Mickey's screenplay, Wild Horses?

I saw references to it in articles and interviews from 2009-2010, but nothing recent. It's a screenplay he wrote that he was trying to get made, based on his experiences with his brother dying. It is about two brothers on a bike trip, but one brother does not know that the other is dying.

Tony kaye was attached as director with micky and val kilmer in the leads and bob dylan doing the soundtrack but they couldn't get the money together and it fell apart mickey had for awhile been courting leonardo for the part but that didn't go anywhere much like the welshman mickey is now way too old to play the part in the movie i think if they managed to get it off the ground now mickey should just be writer and producer with maybe someone like tom hardy and ewan mcgregor in the roles although i don't think mickey would ever go for that because this was his passion project

Thanks for that. It's incredibly hard to get a film made. I would have liked to see it realize the light of day.

Sugarshout, do you know what's the story behind Broken Horses? It's a movie Mickey was attached to, from his own script. Is it the same as Wild Horses? The director stayed on the project, but Mickey's no longer involved and doesn't get credited for writing it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2503954

Hi asgard broken horses and wild horses are two different movies mickey only wrote wild horses aside from the similiar title another confusing aspect is that mickey and val kilmer were attached to both movies broken horses was written by the director of that film

Speaking of scripts and writing credits i feel mickey should have gotten a writing credit for the film a good night to die the film was based on mickey's script called Penance he was attached to star as well the film title was changed to Pieces of Ronnie, later changed to A Cold Day In August and then finally to A Good Night to Die mickey was replaced with michael rapaport just prior to the start of filming the script was rewritten but still matched rourke's original script premise
