The perfect choice to play Martin Luther King

Well, he's already played a character named Luther and another one named King. What about Luther King? With his looks and his sonorous voice, I think he'd be the perfect choice to play Martin Luther King in a biopic. Anyone else think so?

It doesn't matter who tries to play King in a movie, nobody will ever play King better than Paul Winfield did in the movie King.

many years ago he was considered for a role as Martin Luther King, Jr.

In a spooky conincidence I saw a page on msn news this week about actors msn would like to see considered for the role including Denzel (surely exempt due to Malcolm X which he should have won an oscar for) Larry Fishburne etc but to my suprise no Ving Rhames.I was going to start a new thread until I came across this one and would like to add my unequivocal support(like that means anything hehe).

I think he would be superb, the man is actually an excellent actor, I'm suprised he hasn't won an Oscar in his career, (yet).

No. MLK was a strong leader, but Ving is a tough guy. His appearance is not what MLK was about

My vote is no.

Vine is a physically imposing man, where Martin at best was average in size.
Also Dr. king died when he was 39, as Ving is in his mid-fifties.
He's got the voice and acting chops,, but it stops there. Fishbone is also getting too old to play King. I thought Jeffrey Wright did a respectable job on the HBO movie
