The worst movie mega star of all time!

Of all the actors to become box office gold Burt Reynolds is the worst, least deserving, least talented, assholiest one of all.

Deliverance is the only decent film he made when he was king of Hollywood. Boogie Nights is the only good film he made after that.

other than that not ONE good film, ever, everything he has ever made is GARBAGE. It's actually amazing how a man as dickish and hackey as this could DOMINATE the box office for as long as he did but to add insult to injury EVERY FILM HE MADE STUNK!

Yes there are worse movie stars than Burt Reynolds I know, again I'm talking about box office KINGS.

Ok, don't hold back. Please tell us how you really feel. I will admit that a lot of Reynolds's movies are crap and so would he. There are some that are acquired taste, for Burt fans only. Yeah and some have become outdated, good for there time, not anymore. But you didn't even like "The Longest Yard" or "Sharkey's Machine" those 2 are my favorites.
BTW, I looked up the word "assholiest" in the Microsoft Encarta College Dictionary and believe it or not, I couldn't find it. I think you should have that word trademarked, I like it!

I think the longest yard is terrible and havent seen Sharkeys Machine. I agree that there are a lot of films, A LOT, that may have been passable or watchable in the 70s but are now unwatchable (and therefore long forgotten) but still none of those were GOOD.

Your criticism is a little too harsh IMO. Sure, Burt went to the well a little too often and made a few too many "good ol' boy" flicks but that doesn't discount the fact that he sold a lot of movie tickets and he didn't hold a gun to people's heads and force them to see them. His agents and advisors deserve some of the blame too. Hollywood wasn't complaining 40 years ago when they were reaping a lot of money off him and then tossed him aside. Besides, you may not care for them but Burt made some good ones too - Deliverance, Shamus, White Lightning, Longest Yard (1,000,000 times better than the Sandler version, at least Burt looked like a football player), Smokey 1, The End, Starting Over, Sharkey's Machine, etc. Light, comedic actors don't get the respect that so-called serious actors receive anyway.

I agree with your list except for "Shamus", but if it's a guilty pleasure for ya, I get it. My Burt guilty pleasure is "Skullduggery". What can I say we all have one.

Using my handy-dandy "People Magazine" Almanac 2000 Edition, Burt is ranked #6 on all-time box office champs. Ranked ahead of him are:

1. John Wayne
2. Clint Eastwood
3. Bing Crosby
4. Gary Cooper
5. Clark Gable
6. Burt Reynolds

What I find so interesting about this list is that, Eastwood excepted, none of these guys have more than five films that are still in rotation today, which is roughly the same number you can give to Burt. That's really fascinating.

As for the point of him being the assholiest, I don't know if Bing Crosby's kids would agree with that.
