What's his best role?

I see the guy all the time. He's almost like Kevin Bacon, but for some reason he doesn't seem to have very many stand-out roles. He's handsome and doesn't seem like an actual BAD actor, but I can't think of a really good movie he was the lead in.
I'm watching The Right Stuff at the moment, and he has a very big role in this, but obviously he's not the linchpin. He's very charismatic, and maybe he could have had Bacon's role in, maybe, Mystic River, but he doesn't seem to have that Home Run on his resume.

maybe it's just me but i feel Kevin Bacon has done way more things that make him stand out. If bacon did nothing else..His role in Footloose is iconic. It's what I always think of when people mention Kevin Bacon. Off the top of my head though I can name more of Kevin Bacons roles... Friday the 13th, Animal House, quicksilver, lets see..that movie where he played a pedophile whats it called...Oh i cant think of the title its on the top of my tongue though..Where the boys went to juvenile prison and the Kevin was the guard that molested them. There was also another movie where he plays an invisible man in a research center type setting. I can easily look up these roles but That defeats the purpose. Theres a movie called She's having a baby Kevin did where his wife is pregnant..that was a good one. I possibly could just be a Bigger Kevin Bacon fan that i thought..

As for quaid..I dont think i can name many. Was he in the movie about the bicycle riding where the main character pretends to be an Italian exchange student? That was a good movie. Oh jeez I hope I am not coming down with early onset Alzheimers..I am only 35.

Updated to say His most recent roles A dogs Purpose was really good..As was his role in The intruder. Also As i just went to Quaids Bio and looked at his most memorable roles..Yeah I would have to agree with the day after tomorrow. It was a huge blockbuster and it gets played on TV all the damn time. I'm sure if he never acted again he could live pretty comfortable off that role alone.

Footloose is a funny example of a movie. I was a little older than the target audience, but it was a pretty big hit. I finally watched it and, being a fan of older musicals like My Fair Lady, et al, I didn't expect much. But there is a real energy in Dancing. A lot of people don't appreciate a dance piece in the middle of a film, but it's an opportunity to watch a different art form. Heck, the dance on the floor piano in Big is a performance number. It's just fun to see (and hear) people playing music with precision. So KB has my great respect. But what about DQ ... ?

I nominate The Big Easy - always liked that film and the role fits him like a glove. Also he holds his own against a bunch of the best scene stealing character actors and the chemistry with Ellen Barkin is smoking.

Good call. Barkin was Smoking back then. I think I've seen her recently and she has that ... idk ... kinda that old and little bit haggard look but you can see how she might have been Smoking back in the day which means she still is a little bit Smoking. So DQ being in it gives him points.

That's my vote - loved "The Big Easy". I also loved "Enemy Mine" - way underrated movie.

Frequency.

Perfect ! I loved that movie and I don't even like Caviezel ! It's not often brought up, but I stumbled on it somehow, and I thought it was great. I mean, a movie that isn't Oscar worthy doesn't mean it's bad. It was a nice compact little tale that had a super-natural hook to it.

A little while back I saw a thread about movies that were like The Twilight Zone. I think Frequency was one of them, and deservedly.

That would have been my answer as well.

He's good in a lot of things but he sold me on a father talking to his son. So I give him props for that.

It's becoming a frequent answer....
