You're not fooling anybody.
Troll bait.

reply

Well sometimes, the truth in regards to Roman Polanski, hurts. So how exactly am I "troll baiting"?

reply

#1 creating NEW threads on topics that have been discussed at length since the original boards
existed.
#2 posting only the most outlandish headlines you can find with little to no opinion.
#3 leaving the thread once someone has put you in your place.
.
You're just an attention whore. The worst of the lot.

reply

What the hell do you want me to talk about in regards to Roman Polanski? I sure as hell am not going to talk about his films first and foremost, considering his infamy has all but overshadowed that.

reply

How about adding new responses to one of yours or others numerous posts already existing here on this subject?
Afraid others might see the objective opinions along with your rants?
Or is this your pathetic attempt to fill the Polnaski thread with your opinion only simply because you are infatuated with yourself?

reply

And the Academy gave Smith an Oscar, after he attacked a man on their stage.

I don't see the problem here.

I keep reading endless posts (of 'whataboutism') like this one. Seeking to validate Smith, by constantly bringing up Polanski or Gibson (etc)

Here's the lowdown for those in the cheap-seats:

However reprehensible you find any of the other celebrities, none of their (perceived) crimes took place (front and centre) at the Oscar ceremony itself

Meaning....Polanski never had underage sex at the event (let alone, live on stage) nor did Gibson make any of his (oh-so-hurtful) drunken rants at the Oscars (let alone, once again, live on it's stage)

You (and others like you) are conflating people's (not-so) private lives/problems with any/all subsequent Oscar wins and/or nominations.

It's a completely retarded (bullshit narrative) usually because that individual has a grudge against the actor they're (attempting) to defame.

Will Smith's 'crime' was committed in front of millions at the said event that you're complaining have no right to judge him. Everything Will Smith did that night was at their event, on their dime and also on their watch. Chris rock was (presumably) paid by the Academy to host and was the victim of a assault that took place AT THE FUCKING OSCARS!

(End of story)

No need to cite racism, homophobia, Islamaphobia, Chicken-and-Mushroom-Pot-Noodle-aphobia (etc) Other than the police being (rightfully) involved.....it's ENTIRELY a matter for the Academy (and no-one else)

Oh yeah, and at (very) least previous winners (such as Polanski, Gibson, etc) have never felt the need to lecture anyone about underage sex or anti-Semitism afterwards (unlike Smith's immediate bullshit blubbering about peace and unity....so soon after assaulting the host at the very same event, that subsequently gave him an award....and a standing ovation?)

Perhaps it would be advantageous for all concerned, if Will Smith could keep his wife's genitalia out of other men's mouths, eh?

reply

Nobody in their right frame mind is trying to validate Will Smith. What he did was stupid, irrational, and impulsive. The point is why are people acting as if what Will did was the most outrageously offensive thing to ever happen at the Oscars, when there didn't seem at the time, to be as much backlash for awarding a convicted sex offender in Roman Polanski. Why are people so selective in their outrage or act like the Oscars have up until that point, been a "classy" event?

And what pisses me off, is when people use the argument of Roman Polanski never raped that 13 year old girl on stage at the Oscars. He was still regardless, acknowledged and rewarded by his peers and the Academy even if his crime didn't literally happen at the Oscars. So just because nobody other than Polanski and his victim actually witnessed his horrendous act when compared to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock, that makes it perfectly okay to not talk about his misdeeds in the same context of the Academy Awards?

reply

Quote; "what Will did was the most outrageously offensive thing to ever happen at the Oscars"

You've answered your own question........*AT* the Oscars.

End of.

reply

And Roman Polanski was given the Best Director award *AT* the Oscars, where he also practically got a standing ovation. But I'm assuming that you're one of those "separate the art from the artist" types when it comes to Polanski.

reply

No, because POLANSKI committed no crime *at* the Oscars itself. The point in question isn't what Smith did (it was plain for everyone to see) but where the crime took place. The fact that security didn't prevent him from rushing the stage (nor ejecting him afterwards) is also questionable (but I'm sure the very same Academy will have to answer for that matter in due course?)

Now that Chris Rock is not pressing charges, then it ultimately falls down to the Academy (itself) to take punitive steps towards Smith....who committed the crime AT the awards show.

You are the one that keeps bringing up the *Academy' here (no-one else)

Who else (other than Chris Rock) should take umbrage at Will Smith?

No-one is saying (or comparing) rape to a slap, only you and the false equivalency, that proposes the Academy don't punish those who commit crimes at their actual events?

reply

it doesent matter where these events took place or how many saw. thats effects the hype ,sure , but not the severity.

Will Smith would be just as wrong if he slapped Chris Roack at a party at his house.

And Roman polanski's crime is sure-as-shit worse than Will Smith's , regardless of the fact that it wasnt on stage.

reply

What do you expect. Hollywood is run by paedos.
