Favorite Performance? (Besides Alan Grant)

For me, it's Hec Faulkner from Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

He was good as the cantankerous painter in Sirens.

Norman Lindsay in Sirens

Alcatraz

I always enjoy seeing Dead Calm, but whether it's Neill's best performance I suspect not. He's got a huge filmography, and I'll bet he's got a couple lighter roles thrown in there which might show him in a different light (ala Hugo Weaving in Priscilla).

Merlin in the '90s miniseries.

reply

Seconded. He brings a lot of power, gravitas, and yet vulnerability to that role.

It's really underrated. Probably the best Arthurian related film since Excalibur.

reply

I think I actually prefer it to Excalibur.
