I feel cheated
I was brought up to believe that Sam Neill was Australian. He sounds Australian.
I feel like a national hero just died. I was always so proud of him. But he is a farkin Kiwi!??

shareI'm American and Jim Carrey turned out to be Canadian. I don't care;) Some of my favorite actors with 'American' roles turned out to be foreign, too (which is actually impressive because it's very easy to spot a fake American accent- 9/10 times the english or german or australian accent slips through...and I don't know if Neill was supposed to be American in the Jurassic Park films (Grant in the book was), but his NZ accent was definitely audible, particularly when he says things like 'I guess that means tha powah's off' and in JPIII in particular in several scenes. Not that I'd fool anyone if I went to London and tried to mimic them lol, *although* people here sometimes think I have some kind of accent...probably because I actually, oh, I don't know, ENUNCIATE my words ;)
Maybe it's just an Australian/New Zealander thing, I don't get it. They both seem like places I'd rather live, at any rate.
