That is one Eddie Murphy I still haven't fully seen yet. I saw it on DVD of Eddie Murphy collection at Wal Mart which I'm going back to get.

He said he wouldn't direct again after Harlem Nights. I can't find the interview, but he said he wasn't happy with Harlem Nights and another 48 hours so he took some time away to get his focus back. He did concede that despite not being happy with another 48 hours, it did still make alot of money at the box office.

He just didn't like that he was chubby in that one. What was the joke... Another 48 Pounds?

I wish he'd direct again also. I think he did a great job with Harlem Nights. He assembled a really wonderful cast for that one too.

A lot of strange things happen in this world. Things you don't know about in Grand Rapids.

You're an idiot. Harlem Nights is one of the single most amateurish films ever released by a major Hollywood studio. It feels like a school play with millions of dollars thrown at it. Murphy did anything BUT a good job with this unwatchable mess

I couldn't agree more. I'm old enough to remember seeing this movie when it was released in the theaters back in '89, and just about everyone--myself included-- thought it was terrible and a BIG disappointment. The writing and direction of the movie, which Eddie did himself, was totally lousy, and as you say very unprofessional.

Eddie is certainly a legendary comic and performer, but Mel Brooks he certainly isn't.

I don't think he will do that again. I think he was just given the chance because at the time he was this big star and wanted to do it. Today, they'd laugh his ass out of the room if he wanted to do that.
