He was once the biggest film star....

in the world. I'm a big Eddie fan but I can admit he hasn't made a good in a very long time. In the 80s he was without a doubt the biggest film star in the world. Whether he makes a comeback or not, he always be remembered as a Hollywood legend.

Agreed. And further to that, as a big Eddie fan as well the guy has made some HORRIBLE movies. And some bad PR decisions (like lots of Hollywood types).

Even as deplorable a film Norbit was, it still made over 400 million dollars!

so was mel gibson, arnie, sylvester stallone, kevin costner

nothing lasts forever

reply

Yes they were all big film stars in the 80s but none of them were as big as Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy was the biggest film star in the 80s.

reply

sylvester stallone and tom cruise were arguably bigger

reply

Cruise wasn't bigger than Murphy. He was up there but not bigger.

And what's this once was...NO ONE stays on top forever. No one.

Harrison Ford was the biggest box office star of the 80s. To me, there's no debate about it. A quick list of his top box office hits from this decade:
The Empire Strikes Back
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Return of the Jedi
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Witness
Working Girl
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

reply

In terms of the 80s overall, Harrison Ford was the biggest star. That being said, at his peak in popularity, Murphy was actually ranked the # 1 box office draw.

Do you any proof to back up your claim?
