I can't believe Montgomery passed away 24 years ago today. It seems like yesterday when I heard the news, and was so saddened by it - so young, and the public really didn't know how sick she was with colon cancer. No one knew she was first diagnosed in the mid-80s, when she was in her 50s either - she kept it well hidden.

Yet back then, we didn't have the resources we have today. She most likely would not be able to keep such illnesses quiet, with the internet and sources like TMZ.

I started watching Bewitched on Nick at Nite, the black and white episodes, around 1996 and I thought she was great but I had no idea at the time she had passed away or that Dick York had, too, after years of hardship. I thought they were both so great in the series, too. Those two first seasons are still some of the best of any comedy series I've seen.

Oh yes, I agree! No pun intended but when I watch the first two years I realize just how magical the show was. There were so many fresh and unique episodes. I have this on DVD and occasionally run a marathon for myself.

The episodes that really resonate with me are the ones that focus on Sam and Darrin's love for each other.

Some are just funny to me in a way that I didn't "get" when I was a little kid watching it in the sixties. I just watched the episode where Sam and her mother were experimenting with Darrin's face while he was napping. They forget to change him back and he answers the doorbell. Gladys Kravitz freaks out and screams.

Darrin is understandably upset and insulted. He yells at Sam TO CHANGE HIM back. "I've grown accustomed to my face!"

Wow, this is the first time I've read how she died. Very sad. She's in one of the very best TZ episodes.

Yes she was. She was also on one of the best Thriller episodes. It was an early sixties show hosted by Boris Karloff and though uneven, it had some genuinely good episodes. Some were very scary. I saw the one Elizabeth Montgomery starred in with Tom Poston on youtube. It was caled Masquerade. If you can find it, I'd recommend watching it.

Liz is beautiful in it.
