I honestly never understood this guys popularity. He didn't seem to care either way, I mean if its true he said he would have been a punk if he didn't make it as an actor well then there you go. I guess that's what makes him "cool", his not careing about anything. Seems like a loser attitude to me. I don't know how he got big but he was never one of of my favorite actors. in fact he always has the same expression and I never got how he became a sex symbol. the guy always came off as a bored, lazy wet noodle. the roles he played I always imagined would be so much better if someone else played them.

Realism, Remakes and Unnecessary Sequels are ruining movies!

You obviously have not seen "Love With The Proper Stranger" his facial expressions alone were killers! Some of the wording were HIS actual words! Not the script!!!

Yes, he was cool...he over came 2 abusive step-fathers, having partial hearing loss in one ear and on top of that having dyslexia! So, yeah Steve McQueen was cool, sexy and an excellent actor. I watched his show Wanted: Dead or Alive Nd when I was old enough his movies.

I agree ! I like his movies but he isn't kool I think people mistake his being unemotional as "cool" . Personally his acting stinks ( and yes at 5'8" I could tell him to his face ) Clint Eastwood is much Cooler than McQueen and a helluva lot intimidating cuz Clint expressed much better emotion even though he doesn't say too much . The redeeming quality in a McQueen movie are the driving sequences and music other than that he didn't do it but I can see where Costner tried to pick up his trail .....
