Has Anyone On Here Ever Met Him?

I was just curious because I've always liked his work and I'm curious to know how he may have been in person if anyone encountered him?

I saw him live in the Eugene O'Neill play "A Moon for the Misbegotten" at Princeton University, in New Jersey, back in 2006 or 2007.

It was a play set in the 1920s about three Irish-Americans fighting over a farm, one trying to swindle the other out of the property, and everyone was an alcoholic.

So I didn't actually "meet" him per se, but I saw him live on stage

I also saw Molly Ringwald in 3 different shows in New York City over the years-- "tick, tick...BOOM !" (2001), "Cabaret" (2002), and "Enchanted April" (2003)

Although a private person, Mr. McCarthy was polite and nice both times I met him.
His humility adds to his obvious attractiveness.

My sister lives in NYC and she saw him the other day in passing. She was like, "Blane!" and he smiled and waved. Good to know he's still okay with being known for his '80s roles. No one else recognized him lol

My uncle and him were very close. Andrew was a great man and even when my uncle had cancer he went to see him everyday. My whole family has met him. When I was younger was hanging out with my uncle and when I called Andrew picked up. About 15 years ago when I ws a little girl I told him I liked his movies and he asked me jokingly to be his girlfriend I embarrassingly said no but asked for a pic. To this day I still have on my wall the 8X10 I received that has "to Danielle, my best girlfriend"

I met him last night at a book signing. He is a wonderful storyteller. He was very funny, engaging and not pretentious at all. We chatted a little and he autographed my copy of his book. I was a teenager in the 80s and I've always had a crush on him, so last night was definitely a bucket list item for me!

I seriously almost ran my bike into him when I was cycling home in Dublin (the traffic was crazy that day) and he just kept on walking on the sidewalk after being startled a little. I didn't see him right away and I knew him from somewhere and it just hit me when I came home! I had to look him up online from knowing his face and there he was Andrew McCarthy who I use to watch from St. Elmo's Fire, Weekend at Bernies, Mannequin, and Pretty in Pink! So funny! I felt so bad that I could have hit him, but I think he shrugged it off.

After telling my boyfriend about it, he told me Andrew lives up the street about 5 miles away from us on the other side of town where we usually bike to and I was surprised to learn he actually lives in Dublin and just moved there about 2 years ago after marrying an Irish women. I guess he was out for a stroll that day with his little sunglasses on. I went on Youtube and found some videos of his documentary on Dublin and had written articles on his life and love for Ireland. Very sweet guy he seems like. Now that I'm back in the US for awhile, I wish I could rewind time and had walked down that sidewalk instead of almost crashing into him! ooops, I guess incidents happen when you at least expect it and that would be my story of meeting Andrew. :P
