Andrew McCarthy is best known for "Weekend at Bernie's", "Mannequin" and "St. Elmo's Fire". He's mostly known as a comedic actor, but now he's wonderfully cast, as a sex offender, who was wrongfully convicted of murdering the negibor's 7 year son. This is such a dark role for Andrew and he is brilliant.

I came to post about this, too. I figured there must be a thread already. I've always liked him--he's a very interesting actor--and now seeing him play so far from type is fascinating. He's the best thing on the show! Not only does he play the role well, he makes the character sympathetic. His tortured portrayal of Hank is spot on. Since he's fighting his nature and doing everything he can to NOT give into his desires, that goes a long way toward his redemption. What a powerful line when the doctor was giving him that injection--"I'd rather be a eunuch than a monster." Then when he went over and warned Claire about Adam/Ben leaving in the middle of the night and referred to himself as the friendly neighborhood pedophile I had to laugh! We're supposed to feel for him--that's why we are led to believe he's never actually acted out molesting anyone.

Those are exactly my thoughts. What a brilliant actor he is! I am looking forward to seeing him in his next roles.
