Bela Lugosi used to live down the street from me when I was a kid living in North Hollywood, CA. His house was a mansion.

I guess the movie Ed Wood was wrong.

Lugosi lived high in the 1930s, so high that he spent his fortune. and ended up in very reduced circumstances at the end of his life. He probably moved several times during the downward trend, so there could be several "Old Lugosi houses" in the LA basin.

And the movie "Ed Wood" was extremely well researched.

What about in the film Ed Wood where he had just a small one? Maybe he'd moved by then? I thought Martin Landau did a great job as Bela (and of course won the Academy Award). I was glad to have met Martin in 2015.
