Was she really fired from Voyager?

That's what I have heard. If true, then 'why'? Anyone know the real story?

Well uh "real story" is tough.

We only know what people told the public about it.

According to that, they had to remove one actor in order to include Seven of Nine into the cast. They first wanted to remove Harry Kim, but the actor got on some sexiest people of the year list. So they switched to Kes instead.

I have no link to the original statement though, would require some websurfing.

This is what happened. They got rid of Kes instead of Chakotay because Kes was more difficult to write stories for.

If you pirate media, you don't get to have an opinion on it.

Something tells me Garrett Wang would have done just fine off-Voyager as the sexiest man alive for that year. And even then, they could just have made Wang a regular there.

Disagree. Love Jennifer and her scenes with Robert Picardo (the doctor), but Kes was always sort of a ridiculous character, and any episode that focused on her bore that out.

Very well. Writers and producers at the show weren't lazy, but I can't call them particularly imaginative, with how the show turned out. Oh, but there was also "Enterprise".

I never saw Kes as being the ridiculous character. To me she always showed the best of humanity in her Ocampaness. The best Kes episode and one of my Voyager favourites was the most impressive "Warlord". This and "The Thaw" were masterpieces in showing the twisted forms of evil.

Neelix, on the other hand, was the manifestation of ridiculous.

Edited for grammar.

Well, I cant refute the statement that Kes was in the end a riddiculous character. Thats because whole concept of the Ocampa just doesnt make sense at all. You just cant have an intelligent species that only lives nine years. Even worse a race that only gives birth once in their short lifetime. Theres just no serious good argument for such a drastic misconception.

That doesnt mean however that Kes as a character was bad. And I did enjoy the few instances Kes got a chance to show her talent.

Of course, that was far too rare, but that was a general problem of Voyager and their lack of quality in the scripts as a whole.

What was the reason for Lien leaving the show?

A drug abuse problem.

Her two recent arrests tend to support that.

The 2012 incident where she was arrested for domestic assault.

The 2015 arrest where she has been accused with ramming a police vehicle during a pursuit. She's charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault.
