A real actor

Jack Lemmon was a REAL actor... he could do comedy, drama, combo of both, and always with such integrity that you were watching the character, not thinking "Hey that's Jack Lemmon." What a rare creature he was.

I remember where I was when I heard that he'd passed away... usually a distinction reserved for presidents etc. I was in a restaurant surrounded by "regulars" and one of them said, knowing what a fan I was, "Hey, Jack Lemmon died," and I bawled like a baby. Like I did for Susan Hayward, and Jim Henson, and Audrey Hepburn, and more recently for Paul Newman. Sigh. So few real artists left, though there are some younger ones who show that kind of rare something...
