Unarguably one of the greatest

actors who just doesn't get enough recognition. She just doesn't do emotions; she's created some amazing characters. History will show her as one of the greats.

True dat

Jennifer and Walter Goggins stole the show in The Hateful Eight

reply

She's gotten more than enough recognition over the years, it's just that she's never quite been into being a celebrity, and was always more into being an actor, that's all.

reply

Getting replaced on a Stanley Kubrick film didn't do her any favours, although I often wonder if it was because Nicole Kidman didn't want to be upstaged.

Eyes Wide Shut?

reply

Yep.

reply

I dont think she had the body for it nor would've looked as good with Tom.

reply

The character of Marion wasn't much of a scene-stealer.

reply

Yes, she's a great actor. Not an exploitative one like 99% of them.

reply

Not all of her performances work for me but she makes interesting choices and - at her best - is a superb talent. A shame that none of her best roles have attracted much awards attention, but I hold out hope that her time will come.

reply

Agreed. I've always enjoyed her diverse filmography (studio pictures & indies). She made a wonderfully memorable debut (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, 1982) and has continued doing interesting work for the past 40 years. A few of my favorites, Single White Female (1992), Mrs. Parker & the Vicious Circle (1994), Margot at the Wedding (2007), and Good Time (2017).

reply

I didn’t care for Mrs Parker or her performance but she is excellent in the other films you mention. I’d add Rush, Short Cuts and Georgia as particular favourites.

reply

Totally forgot about those three. All superb performances.
