IMO Its voice acting, so the race of the actor shouldn't matter as long as they fit the part. In any event white actors playing white roles is not white washing. From a woke perspective, isn't this what they want? They want to race of the actor to match the character whenever they are non white.
His original casting as Luigi was out of place and made no sense, and he seems to realize that by calling it colorblind casting.
I'm not sure that was his point. Latin was the language of Rome. But Latino, Latina, Latinx refers to Latin Americans, not Italians. Hispanics have sorta co-opted the word.

Grammatical gender is more to create flow of words then it is to assign sex. Only someone with a sophomoric understanding would bemoan them and call for gender neutral ones. The gender actually started to determine what things are active vs passive. It has nothing to do a with a patriarchy. And a great deal of words have arbitrary assignments. Dresses are masculine in Spanish.
