A caricature of himself
He's not real anymore.
I think at this point, at his age, he's either stuck with the same one-trick-pony routine, or he's playing for everybody this caricature of a black, short, angry, "political" film director.

Yeah he's a total clown and a snorewad. The oscars are desperate if his antics are the best attraction they have.
shareHe's made huge inroads for black film makers who want to tell personal stories. I'll give him that. BUT, I don't find his work all that impressive, and his writing is at best sophomoric and hamfisted. His direction style also comes across as too much free-flow and not enough choreography. I can tell he strives to make movie scenes in the same vein as Robert Altman, but the end result comes across as lazy and unfocused.
shareHe's made some brilliant films, I will give him that.
However, that doesn't give him the right to be so monumentally rude to the co-writers of "Blackkklansman", the ones who probably did most of the real work, and whom he left standing on stage unable to speak. Some people seem to think that being a brilliant artist gives them the right to be an asshole, and that just isn't so.
Well said.
shareThis guy is a little racist toad who makes amateurish movies.
shareHe was always like that. He's like the black Oliver Stone, especially comparing the quality of their films in later life.
