Very sad he passed, but on the bright side...

Unlike his peers Peter Cushing and Vincent Price, Lee was around long enough to reap all of the benefits of his hard work in the early years by getting cast in huge blockbusters in his twilight years and acquiring a new generation of fans in the process.

He led a good full life. And he gained huge popularity. So a bright side indeed to the inevitable.

He also left a huge legacy as he has done a bunch of incredible things beyond his acting career, some of the things he did before acting are worthy of making a mark in the history books.

Very true, he will be remembered as Sarumon and .... Count Dooku (ehh) forever

The bright side I was honestly looking for... He was able to finish The Hobbit films completely

What The OP stated is absolutely correct. Cushing and Price were never really able to break out or away from the horror movie cycle while Lee did indeed manage to play many other roles in films besides horror. He had quite a very long and varied career in the film business no question about it. Having said that he will always continue to be, for many of us out there, THE ultimate king of the vampires, DRACULA!
