Wish he did more widely released movies that were good

I know this guy is not the best actor and he is constantly working, but I really long to see him in popular movies that are of at least average quality. He is one of the best parts of Mortal Kombat, was great in the Highlander movies (Highlander II not with standing), and even had a delightful cameo in the Coen Brothers Hail Cesar! Everything else he does is straight to DVD crap or terrible beyond belief (Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance). Can we hope for anything of mainstream quality?

I saw him recently in Bel Canto with Julianne Moore, It was a decent movie and he was good in it.

I heard it's because he has terrible eyesight so he has to wear special glasses to see clearly. Thus it's actually very hard for him and the crew when shooting because the characters he played usually don't wear glasses. Even when characters in movies wear glasses usually they're not real prescription glasses because those make your eyes look small / weird in camera.

Mainstream films producers wouldn't want to risk jeopardising or potentially delaying / prolong shoots just to cast him. Therefore he only get cast in B-movies and straight-to-dvds. Those people are fine with a little bit difficulty because their budget is lower and quaility isn't that important. If there's a mistake they'll just shrug it off and move on. Basically they just cast him for his name and screen presence / charisma. Which he has plenty.

This guy has had pretty weird career span. After Greystoke, he was hailed as a sort of great method actor. When Highlander started pre-production, he was considered the biggest european star at the time, boosting the films budget considerably. His biggest moment as an star actor might have been The Sicilian, but that film had some trouble during release, and pretty much no one saw it. After that he still managed to star along good actors like Ed Harris, Tim Roth, James Caan, John Lone, but he standed out like a sore thumb because of his strangely bad acting skills.

The Hunted is a great martial arts/ninja movie and a very unique film as well. It seems mostly forgotten now but is a gem of a film.
